An ancient, traditional cottage, built of the land over 400yrs ago and truly embedded within its grounds. Now considerately refurbished into a cosy space with all amenities running on wind energy, via a heat pump and cutting edge sodium battery storage. The land has many learning opportunities available, guided by the hosts, and there are wonderful woods to explore. Cornwall is famed for it's fantastic heritage and geographical marvels. A base from which to enjoy much that Cornwall has to offer!
There is ample parking out front on the golden gravel or to the rear of the property. The cottage presents itself as having been sensitively restored with lime render and a new thatch. The oak porch leads in to the ground floor with a partial hall, just inside the front door, for coats and shoes, etc. There is then a living room with sofas and coffee table to the left and a snug with sofa, easy chair and TV to the right. All window seats are handmade from a tree felled and planked onsite. The doorway leads on to the dining room with ample seating for all. The kitchen is next and, though dated, is well equipped to cater for all meals. Plenty of hot water, dishwasher, hob, oven, combi oven, toaster, kettle, large fridge-freezer, etc... Off the kitchen is a what we call the morning room with a sofa and coffee table as well as a TV. There is also a downstairs toilet/shower wet room. A utility room come porch finishes the downstairs with modern washing machine, tumble dryer and further space for coats and shoes. Outside the back door is an area with a hose pipe for rinsing salt from beach gear which leads onto a small garden with summer house and bbq area.
Up the listed staircase, opposite the front door, are the four bedrooms and a bathroom. Heritage features abound up here, mind your head! Two bedrooms are twin rooms, a third is a twin with an extra trundle bed. The fourth is a single room. All bedrooms feature the 'of the land' window seats. The bathroom is large with two sinks, toilet and shower over the bath.
The house and surrounding mown grass areas are for your use. The lawn up a few steps by the backdoor, make for a great outdoor dining area and a gas BBQ is provided. An oak framed garden room is also available for your use. Please only use the gas BBQ and do not use anything else because of the thatched roof! Please do also respect any 'private or no access' signs as this is an extended family residence. By prior arrangement a tour of the Permaculture landscape, swales, polytunnel and forest garden is possible. Morning/evening rounds to feed any animals we may have at the time are also possible.
